Prayer Shawl & Baby Blanket Ministry

The MMR Prayer Shawl ministry began in 2008, with the goal of creating and gifting shawls to the ill, bereaved, hurting or lonely. Eight years later, the group decided to include baby blankets and items to share with young mothers through the Respect Life Ministry. This Winter the group is once again expanding their scope and will create beautiful winter warmth items for the homeless through St. John's Hospice annual BOOT UP Philly drive.

The ministry meets on the first Monday of the month at 6:30 pm in the Matthew Walsh Room.

Each meeting starts with a prayer seeking God’s blessing on all the items created by the group, for the people who receive the knitted/crocheted items, and for all the group members and their families. The group usually listens to the rosary or sacred music during each meeting, and will continue to pray at home as they continue to work for the remainder of the month.
