Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Parish offers year round opportunities for people seeking more information about the Catholic Faith, the Sacraments and living the Christian Life.
These opportunities are for adults who would like to inquire about following Jesus and becoming a member of the Catholic Church, or, if you are already a baptized Christian, would like to become a Catholic, or, if you are already a baptized Catholic, would like to receive Confirmation and Holy Communion. There are many people like yourself inquiring and we are ready to answer your questions. Please contact the Parish Office for more information.
Overview of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is designed for previously unbaptized adults who seek the way of faith and conversion. By God's help, they will be strengthened spiritually during their preparation and at the proper time will receive the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist) fruitfully.
Baptized Christians desiring to join the Catholic Church may also participate in components of RCIA that are appropriate to their needs in preparation for the Rite of Reception into the Full Communion of the Catholic Church.
In addition, Catholics who have not completed the Sacraments of Initiation may also participate in components of RCIA that are appropriate to their needs in preparation for the completion of the Sacraments of Initiation.
Bible and Daily Mass Readings- The New American Bible, Revised Edition (NABRE)
Catechism of the Catholic Church- The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) was promulgated by Pope John Paul II on 11 October 1992, the 30th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council. The CCC is a reference text for teaching catholic doctrine and for preparing local catechisms, such as the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults. The CCC is arranged in four principal parts: The Profession of Faith (the Apostle's Creed), The Celebration of the Christian Mystery (the Sacred Liturgy, especially the sacraments), Life in Christ (including The Ten Commandments in Roman Catholic theology), Christian Prayer.
The Rosary- How to pray the rosary including texts for the prayers of the rosary (Apostles' Creed, Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, Hail Holy Queen)
The Mass: Structure- The Mass (Eucharist) unfolds in two great parts which together form one, single act of worship. The Liturgy of the Word involves proclaiming and listening to the Word of God. The Liturgy of the Eucharist includes the presentation of the bread and wine, the prayer or the anaphora containing the words of consecration, and communion. The Eucharist is the source and summit of all Christian life. In the Eucharist, the sanctifying action of God in our regard and our worship of him reach their high point. It contains the whole spiritual good of the Church, Christ himself. Communion with divine life and the unity of the People of God are both expressed and effected by the Eucharist. Through the eucharistic celebration we are united already with the liturgy of heaven and we have a foretaste of eternal life.
The Mary Page - The University of Dayton Marian Library and International Marian Research Institute. Includes a wealth of information such as Marian Prayers, Mary in Scripture, Marian Shrines, Marian Apparitions, etc.
Liturgy of the Hours - The Liturgy of the Hours or Divine Office is the official set of daily prayers prescribed by the Catholic Church to be recited by clergy, religious, and laity. It consists primarily of psalms supplemented by hymns and readings. Together with the Mass, it constitutes the official public prayer life of the Church. The Liturgy of the Hours, along with the Eucharist, has formed part of the Church's public worship from the earliest times. Christians of both Eastern and Western traditions celebrate the Liturgy of the Hours.
